Esperanza Rising is a interesting book by Pam Munoz Ryan and her grandmothers life. Esperanza is the main character and is the grandmother of Pam Muoz Ryan. Esperanza comes to california due to her fathers death. A man names Tio Luis wanted to marry Esperanzas mother but was was rejected by her because he was trying to take over the land, of Sixto Ortega (the father that died). Esperanza and her mother then moved to california without notice. They had a long journey and when they got to CA. things were not much better. She has gone from riches to rags.
Pam Munoz Ryan was very descriptive in her book and made the book exciting and unpredictable. Every sentence became a picture, and most of the time that has to be a good book for that. If she didn’t put in any good details the book monaswell been a flat broken rock. Every time you increase a chapter you should notice that, the chapters are named after fruit . It is the time of season. Each fruit has its own season. She really captured the moment, or time of year.
Another thing the author did well in was her flow. The flow in the book was absolutely perfect. Each peice seemed to have its own mind and not many books do that. It clicked like a puzzle peice would. She was extremely accurate with not going off topic. I dislike books that do that because it tells you the writer doesn’t know what he/she is doing. Otherwise there would be no point in reading that story.
I think that Esperanza was a little to stuck up . I think that Pam Munoz Ryan over did Esperanza and could of made her more kind. Towards everybody on the train she acted like god in fact I think she thought she was god.
I would recomend this book to anyone who likes unpredictibility.
