Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech is amazing story of a young girls journey of life. Sal is a 13 year old girl who lived in the country of Bybanks, but after her baby sister die at birth her mother left to escape form her saddening life. Sal’s dad then forces Sal to move with him to Ohio since her mom never came back. As Sal drives from ohio with her gram and Gramps to see her mother, she tells Pheobe’s story ( her friend from ohio). During the long ride with her grandparents Sal faces sadness and joy, but yet learns much about herself.
Sharon Creech wrote an ecilent heart filled book that keep you thinking up till the last word. I really likes how she wrote a story within a story. It was the story of Sals trip to see her mother, and during the trip she told pheobe's story, and about her experiences in ohio. Both of the stories connected to each other, and each complimented each other. If they were told separately it would take out all of the good mysteries and connections.
I enjoyed how Sharon Creech put little details in the beginning of the story, but in the end they all tied together. For example earlier in the book before mrs. winterbottom leaves, pheobe starts to discover notes on her porch. The notes really connected to the theme of the book and also sal and pheobes life. Later in the book they discover they are just from a neibor who got them out of the news paper.
They only thing didnt like was how the book format was setup. Sharon Creech had so many chapers in his book, and they were really short. The chapter would start with a new idea but she ended the chapter before the idea ended. I don’t enjoy how it was a mystory after every chapter. It might be better if she concluded the idea before the end of the chapter.
This book was a mixture of mystory, adventure, and realist fiction. I would recomend this book to a young girl who is trying to find hope or discover more about themselfs. I would also recomend it to anyone who enjoys getting hooked into the book.
