I read Loser by: Jerry Spinelli.  In Loser the main charector is Zinkoff.  Zinkoff is all happy at the begining and doesn’t realize hat no one really likes him (1st - 3rd grade).  But then around 3rd grade he starts to realize that he is an outcast.   Zinkoff is still a positive thinker and is very nieve throughout the whole book and tries to think of ways to be happy and make people like him.  Zinkoff never really ends up fitting in and turns out to be an outcast the whole book.  If you like books that aren’t fantasy and are just relly normal, this is a good book for you.
In Loser I liked how the auther made it so that all the kids Zinkoffs age didn’t like him but all of his neighbors thought he was so nice, and just the most wonderfull kid.  The only thing about how the auther (Jerry Spinelli) wrote the parts talking about the neighbors, is that he never went into that much detail.  This made you wonder who the neighbors truly were, questions would always be popping into your head.  Other than that I still really like how the auther made itleast some people like Zinkoff.
I did not like how the auther made Zinkoffy really, really nieve.  I thought it was annoying, when that bully was trying to take his hat and Zinkoff was like, “Oh, i’m sorry.  This must be your hat if you want it.  You probabbly just left it at the store where I got it.”.  Then he gave the bully his hat.  Zinkoff needs to open his eyes more and not let people walk all over him so much.  I also did not like how the auther made the book so that it was really predictable and boring.  Whenever something big happened it wasn’t exciting at all because you knew it was going to happen before it happened.  The way the auther wrote the book it was as if he was talking to a six year old.  He didn’t make anything exciting it was all,:” He walked down to the cellar.  He ran back up because it was scary.  Then he took a deep breath.”  It was so Boring!
I think that you would like the book Loser  If you have a hard time reading.  This book is really easy to read.  It can be confusing at parts, like hard to tell what’s happening but it’s pretty easy to figure it out.  If you like reading about things that are real and could happen.  If you like fantasy and fiction you should not read this book.  Overall if you like easy to read, pretty boring books Loser is perfect for you.

Loser.  A book about a boy- Donald Zinkoff whose life has been always a struggle from the start, as an out cast he tries to fit in. People all around him always thought that he was very strange and very peculiar in the first grade. While growing up, everyone realizes that they’ve all changed & matured, except for Zinkoff. Zinkoff, now clumsier, and more reckless than ever decides that he wants to fit in and be with the crowd, but his personality and looks stand out too much that he can’t even be given the chance. Later on, his clumsy personality persists and he doesn’t  notice until his first field day. Slowly, he realizes that his ways are beyond normal, and that no matter how hard he tries, he can’t change himself for what he really is on the outside: A loser. However, at the climax, he unveils his true self as a generous, and caring boy who is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, to save another person’s life. At the end, he proves to the world that there is always more to the inside, than there is out.
This type of book would go well with people who like pieces that reflect a character’s life and hardships, and very close to reality. Zinkoff’s situation are very real to the situations people still face today. This book has valuable lessons that you can learn from, putting a positive impact on your life.

Loser, by Jerry Spinelli, is about a young boy named Zinkoff who never seems to win or have anything good happen to him.  But Zinkoff is different from other kids. He believes in himself and never gives up, even when times get the worst.  Zinkoff is picked on and bullied a lot because of his good nature.  He doesn’t blame anyone or even realize that they’re making fun of him.  Everyone else sees him as a loser, or a nobody.  Zinkoff has lots of interesting things happen to him, which is what this book is all about. It is a very different book than anything I’ve ever read.
I really like Jerry Spinell’s writing style.  At some times it seems almost like a poem, his words flow so well together.  Certain points in the book made me stop and think because he was addressing a much bigger problem than what was actually happening in the book. When he was talking at the beginning about winning and losing, I was really sucked in and wanted to read more because he made it seem like the world was so simple to Zinkoff.  As Zinkoff grew up, the writing got more mature and the ideas that Spinelli expressed were more mature also.  It made the book make sense and made it easier to relate to Zinkoff’s predicament.
I wish that this book could have had more of a climax or plot.  It kind of seems like there is no point up until Claudia goes missing, even though I know every event had a meaning to giving Zinkoff character, to him becoming who he is in the end.  Every event is almost a plot in itself, like Field Day and Bring Zinkoff To Work Day.  The events happen, but are never mentioned again.  If Spinelli had brought them up again, they would have had more importance and impact on Zinkoff’s life.
Another thing that i liked was Spinelli’s characters.  They were all developed very well throughout the book, which made it easy to relate to them and realize why they acted the way they did.  But I do wish he had told more about the “Waiting Man.” It seemed like Spinelli wanted it to stay a mystery,
I would recommend this book to anyone over 10 who knows what it’s like to be in school and not know what everyone else wants from them.  This book would make the most sense to them because they would understand Zinkoff and why he does the things he does.  Overall this was a good book which would make sense to a lot of people.
