Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech is a wonderful book. This book is mostly about the main character Salamanca or Sal is telling an interesting story about her friend, Phoebe. Phoebe Winterbottom has an interesting outlook on life. She suspects things very easily, for example she assumed that her neighbor was an axe murderer and killed her own husband, when really her husband died in a car accident. Sal is telling Phoebe’s story to her Gram and Gramps while on their long journey from Ohio to Idaho. While telling this story, Sal’s own story starts to shine through.
I really enjoyed this book. I really like how the author, Sharon Creech, had Sal’s story kind of a mystery but then had it shine through Phoebe’s. I also liked how the author had little stories on the side but in the end they became important in the end. You had to really pay attention to small details because they all played and important role sooner or later. I think the author did a nice job explaining the stories and tieing them all together at the end.
Another quality the author used well in this book was making you want to read on. At the end of the chapters she would make another event come up, making you want to know more about it. Almost every time I had to stop reading I didn’t want to. Sharon Creech uses the quality very well in this book.
I would recommend the book to anyone who wants a good read. Also kids who lost a parent or their parent left and don’t know why. This book explains why some parents leave their family and tell the kids it is not your fault. I think most people who read this would like it.
