What I liked about this story is that Joey is getting help because he needs to get better. Joey does not want to get hurt any more. Some of the things he did to get hurt was cutting up his finger in the pencil sharpener, and by jumping off of the top of a barn. I liked the story of Joey Pigza because when he was doing good he got a dog that was just like him. I think that it would be good for him to take care of something.
I would love to know how old he was when his dad left him and his mom, and how long after did his mom leave to go after him.One thing I was wondering was when Joey’s mom left to go get his dad, did she know that Joey’s grandma was so mean? Was there any one in the mom’s family that could of watch over Joey? Why does Joey’s mom pick Joey’s dad’s mom to watch Joey and not her own family to watch him?
I would just change a couple of things that would make the story a little bit better. One would be starting at the begging of Joey’s life so that we could see how his mom was before he came. Then, we can see how he was raised with the grandma from the beginning and if his dad loved him. But all together, this was one great book that anyone could read and they would love this book.
